When you are building a home there are a lot of things you have to take into consideration. The first thing you will want to take into consideration is where you live. Depending on where you live will determine which type of weather you have during the year. One of the best times to build is during the winter for some states because you can usually find people that are slower and don't have a lot of work so they will work for cheaper and will not be booked out months in advanced. You will want to make sure that you dig your hole and pour your foundation before it gets to cold so that you are guaranteed warm enough weather that the cement trucks can pour and that the cement can dry correctly.
The second thing is if you live in a state where there are hurricanes or other weather related storms that happen each year that effect when there is lumber and other building supplies available. You will want to make sure that you take this into consideration that during these months lumber and building supplies will be in high demand and will be more money. Also if the area you live in has really cold winters or really hot summers this might affect the sub-contractors that you can find. Some sub-contractors will not want to work if it is too cold or too hot.
The third thing to know is that a lot of people that have kids in school and like to schedule their houses to be done being built in time to move in at the end of the school year or at the first of the summer so that their kids can finish out the school year at their schools before they have to move. This means that early spring and summer are busy months for building a home. Because of this there will be longer waiting times for sub-contractors and building materials because of all of the building projects that will be going on all at once.
The fourth thing you will want to make sure that you find out how long it is going to take to build your home. This will help you to determine what season you will want to start building your home in so that you can make sure that you can get certain things done when you need them to be done. For example you will need to make sure that if you are putting brick, stone, stucco or anything else that can't be applied in the cold you will want to make sure that take this into consideration. It will cost you more money if you do your exterior in the cold because you will have to pay for your house to be tented and heat to be ran so that your brick, stucco, or rock will adhere correctly.
