Before you decide on any builder, you need to make sure that you check them out with the BBB. Here are some tips in checking your builder out with the BBB.

What is the BBB?
The BBB stands for the Better Business Bureau. This business was founded in 1912 and was designed to greatly address marketplace problems, between businesses and consumers through the use of voluntary self-regulation. Basically businesses are rated so the consumer knows if they are a good company to work with.

The BBB also resolves complaints between buyers and sellers. This includes complaints between the consumer and business and business between business transactions when a product or service is being sold. This information then makes up the BBB Reliability Reports on companies. The business performance record is the most important detail. It states the number of complaints logged against the company in the past 36 months, and whether these complaints were resolved.

Before signing any contract with any builder, check the company and its performance record with the Better Business Bureau. The information in the report can help you decide if this company's record is good and if other customers would recommend them to do business with you. You can also call the bureau's automated voice-information system and they will tell you if the company or builder has a satisfactory or unsatisfactory record.
