Geometric Swirl, Textured Paint

Applying texture to the walls of your home is a great way to add warmth, dimension, and interest to any room. Not to mention the fact that adding texture means hiding blemishes better. Geometric Swirls is a form of texture painting that is very fun, and can make any room look unique, as well as sophisticated.
The following is a step by step guide to applying geometric swirls to your walls, and using this technique of texture painting to add interest to your home's interior:
Texture paint takes more than one coat of paint.
For the first coat your Step 1 is to take the texture paint you have purchased, and put it into a 5-gallon bucket. This gives adequate room to stir the texture paint thoroughly using a stir stick You will want to do this.
Step 2 of geometric swirl texture painting is to load a 3-4" brush with the Texture Paint of choice. Starting in the top corner, cut in around the perimeter of the wall or ceiling. You will want to use a quality nylon/polyester brush, and be sure to re-load the brush as necessary.
Step 3 is to place a 5-gallon bucket grid into the bucket and a loop roller cover onto a frame. Which leads us to step 4.
Step 4 utilizes what you prepared in step 3. You will want to dip the roller cover into the paint, covering the entire nap area. If you leave parts of the nap uncovered your paint job will not turn out as well.
Step 5 Starting in the upper corner of the cut-in section, place the loaded roller onto the wall. Working in a 4' X 4' section, roll a "W" onto the wall. You do not want to get sections bigger than this because your paint will dry too quickly and not give you a chance to apply the correct geometric swirl texture style.
Step 6 is to continue rolling from the top edge of the wall to the bottom of your 4' X 4' section, being sure to roll into the existing cut-in area, this will ensure that you do not have lines.
Step 7 This step is simple, it is basically repeat step 6. Continue this process until the entire working surface is complete. Texture Paint has an open working time of approximately 10-15 minutes, so be sure to work in small 4' X 4' sections, and if this seems to be too large, adjust the section size to fit your speed of application.
Step 8 Let the first coat set for 15-20 minutes, then you can begin applying the second coat for the Geometric Swirl style.
For the second coat, you need to have some patience, as this is where the Geometric Swirl is applied.
Step 1 is to once again work in a 4' X 4' section, and apply the second coat to the area using your looped roller cover. Allow the completed 4' X 4' section to dry for 5 minutes
Step 2 Then, using a water-dampened sea sponge, you create the geometric swirl. You will turn the sponge on the surface in a twisting motion to create the desired effect. You can practice with different sizes, etc. until you find what you want.
Step 3 Keep applying the texture pattern and continue until the 4' X 4' section is complete.
Step 4 Once your section is complete, load your looped roller cover with Texture Paint, and begin the next 4' X 4' section. Allow this section to dry for 5 minutes. (Basically repeat what you just did with a new section.)
Step 5 Continue this process until the entire working surface is complete, try to blend the edges so that your sections do not stand out.
Step 6 Once the texture finish has dried 24 - 48 hours, you may want to apply a primer, as it will increase the durability, and then you can paint a top coat on to change colors, or add more depth.
Now all you have to do is enjoy your artistic creation, and the beautiful geometric swirl texture style you created, and that will entirely unique to you and your home.
