Home Lighting Trends

When you build, or design, your home you want to consider the resale value. Considering resale value does not necessarily mean you intend to sell one day, but by adding features that make it more easily sold you accomplish a few tasks. One, if the occasion arises that you should chose to sell, you are not looking at a bunch of expensive upgrades to be able to do so. And two, you make your home stay up to date longer, and make it more comfortable for yourself to live in.
One resale feature you should consider is the lighting. Lighting has gone from functional, to both functional and decorative. So, when you consider your home lighting options do not forget the current lighting trends, and what those mean to you.
Today, lighting trends lead consumers to fixtures that are both functional and aesthetically appealing. Although practicality is still a very important part of home lighting (as it would be useless if it was not practical), the aesthetic, or decorative nature of lighting has definitely made a stand, and has gained almost equal importance. Now, light is expected to be just as useful as a decorating accessory, as it is for illuminating. Thus, let's take a closer look at the decorative aspects of lighting trends.

Kitchen lighting

Lighting trends basically state that the fixture needs to do or say something about you, your personality, the mood, atmosphere, and tone of the room. As well as provide ample light for the task at hand. So, if you want an elegant and updated kitchen, you may decide to install a new chandelier. This will give the elegance you want, but still give you enough light to cut potatoes without slicing your fingers off.

Bathroom Lighting

Let's say you want to redo, or update a bathroom. You will want to remember what the uses of the bathroom are. You want to make sure that it is well lit, which makes make-up application, cleaning, and zit popping easier. However, you will also want to consider the desired effect the room should have. Do you want a fun splish splash environment, or a look that screams of elegance and propriety, even in the bathroom? Adding a stylish vanity bar and coordinating wall sconces can help to accomplish such a look.

Lighting trends are simply, make it personal, make it tasteful, and make it functional, all through the use of a variety of fixtures and lighting accessories. For example, let's say you are hoping to make your backyard safer and more festive for evening cookouts. Instead of a flood light coming off the back of the house, install bamboo lanterns that are electrical and give your yard a festive, tropical feel.
Whatever your plans concerning lighting for your home, remember to match décor with lighting fixtures, and make your home lighting more than practical, make it stylish as well. You may even want to consider some of the newer, and more popular, technologically sophisticated lighting system ideas such as installing lighting that originates from the floor for a unique effect. It is up to you, but when it comes to your home lighting, and lighting trends, the more creative, and yet subtle in appearance you can be the better. Your lighting fixtures need to not just light the room but set the mood, add to the overall effect, and of course, make you appear as décor smart and stylish as they can.
Lighting trends say to express your personality and the personality of the room through your lighting, so follow the trends, enjoy the value they add to your home, as well as the style and fun!
