If you know what look you are going for you will want to make sure that you price different woods and what it costs to do different types of cupboard doors. For example some places charge more for knotty alder over oak and more for raised panel cupboard doors over bead board. These are things you will want to make sure that you find out before hand. You will also want to make sure that you ask every person that you get a bid from exactly what the cost is for each things and have them give you a break down. This will help you to see exactly what everything costs and get an idea what you want and what you can live without.
The third thing is flooring. If you are thinking about replacing the flooring in your home this might be the cheapest remodeling that you can do. Depending on what type of flooring you go with will depend on the cost. For example if you are replacing carpet with wood floor you might spend a little bit more depending on the type of wood flooring you go with. But if you are just replacing your carpet with new carpet you probably won't end up spending that much.
The fourth thing is paint. Painting is an easy remodeling job that can make a world of difference. Depending on what type of style of home you live in will depend on what type of painting you want to do. If you want to go all out you can texture your walls and add paint and glazing over them to give them a whole new look. But if you just want a new color you can go to your local paint store and get some samples and see how they look in the lighting of your home. You will want to keep in mind that most paints go a shade darker once they are on the walls.
