House Design Software

When you are planning to build a house, or just dreaming of someday doing so, house design software could become your best friend. House design software is a great way to play around with your ideas and create a working floor plan for your future home. It is important to realize that anyone with a computer can draw floor plans, house elevations, and stunning 3D pictures using home design software programs; thus, the programs shouldn't, and can't, take the place of an architect or draftsman.

So, if you can't use house design software to create actual working plans, what good is it? House design software is a great thing to have for many reasons. It can help you visualize your house and figure out what works for you and what doesn't. Using house design software is a great way of saving yourself a lot of time with a draftsman and architect, which might charge by the hour. You can create your plan, and take it to them, then they can make what you are visualizing into a working plan.

What house design software should you use? Well, this is entirely up to you, and your personal tastes. Some of the house design software available today would rival the programs your architect would use; others are very basic in nature. Some are very expensive and some are FREE. So, you will need to look at the different features they offer, and decide what is important to you.

If you are going to spend the time and money to get a good house design software program, make sure that you get one that will let you customize preset floor plans or create your own original.

Try to find house design software that has menus of options for moldings etc. Find one that will let you plan your electrical and plumbing systems, design doors and windows, create custom trim, and more.

When it comes to house design software, look for the following features:

All the drawing power you will ever need.

You can use the mouse, the keyboard, or a combination of both to build the plan.

A full array of graphic drawing tools provided, all you will ever need.

Included pre-drawn figures to represent furniture, fixtures, windows, doors and so forth. Just click and position the one you need.

Save elements you have drawn for later use, even in other plans.

Export plans to DXF files or common bitmap formats.

Complete step by step instructions, otherwise it won't be worth buying if you can't use it.

Lots of printing options. For example, a specific scale can be selected, or your plan can be automatically fitted to the largest paper size available.

Try to find one with a built-in fax driver so you can fax your plans to others.

Or find one with a built-in Email server so you can attach your plans to messages and email them to friends and co-workers.

Free updates that can be automatically downloaded and installed with a click on a button; you will always have the latest enhancements at your finger tips.

House design software should be fun and easy to use. It should have the various options you would consider putting in your home, otherwise it is not worth using. Many companies that sell house design software offer trial periods of use. Take advantage of these, or find FREE programs that you can use and enjoy if you are simply dreaming for now. You can always buy portions of programs as well, so assess your needs, and get a house design software that will allow you to explore your options, and do so affordably.
