The first way is to make sure that your sub-contractors clean up after themselves. You will want to make sure that when you are shopping around for sub-contractors that you make sure that you put in the contract that they will clean up after themselves. You will be spending so much time doing other things on the house that you will probably not have a whole lot of time to spend on cleaning other people's messes up.
The second way is to hire a cleaning crew. There are a lot of cleaning companies that not only do already establish homes but also new construction. You will want to make sure that if you are considering hiring a cleaning company that you get references and make sure that they do a good job. You will also want to make sure to find out how much they are per visit. You don't want to hire a cleaning company expecting them to come every so often just to fin out that they only are paid to come once.
The third way is if you are doing the cleaning yourself. If you are taking on the job of cleaning you will want to make sure that you have a schedule. The building site will get pretty messy really quick. So you will need to make sure that you keep up on it. You will also want to make sure that you have a good vacuum to clean up all of the dust that will be everywhere.

If you don't have a safe building site you might have people trying to sew you because they get hurt on your property. You also will want to make sure that any loose nails or screws around are picked up so that you don't end up puncturing your car tires or even stepping on them and puncturing your foot.
The fifth way is to make sure that any wholes are either filled in or marked very well and blocked off. You also want to make sure that if you have a deep hole on your building site that you don't have it open for long periods of times. This will increase risks of people or little kids falling into it.
The sixth way is to make sure that you don't have exposed metal and rebar. You will want to make sure that if you have rebar sticking out of either your foundation or anything else that it is bent over so that no one will fall over on it and stab themselves. If you have exposed metal you will want to make sure that you get it covered as soon as possible so that people won't step on it or fall into it.
