Home inspections are a wonderful idea if you are thinking about buying a home. They can save you lots of money but also help to make sure your home is safe. Here are some tips if you are a buyer or seller and need to pass your home inspection.

When you build a home, there are several codes and regulations that have to be met for a house to be sold or lived in. These guidelines range from how many outlets have to be on a certain amount of space on the wall to how the wiring is done. Sometimes the regulations can seem annoying, especially if you want your home a certain way, but they help make sure your home is safe and has everything necessary.

If you are concerned about your home not passing an inspection, you can buy a book on the rules. Go through every rule and make sure that your home is up to par. If it's not, try fixing everything you can before an open house or a buyer puts an offer on your home. It can save you money in the long run so you don't have to negotiate the parts of your home that didn't pass inspection and lose money on the sale of your home.

If you are buying a home it is always a really good idea to hire an inspector and have them check out the house. It can protect you from buying a really bad home and from having to spend thousands to fix the house up.

The inspectors cover several things. The general list includes things like the interior of your house, not things like paint but non-cosmetic parts of the interior, and your foundation. They make sure there aren't any cracks. Also they check your basement and make sure everything is up to code there. The framing in your home has to be good and sound. Your roof must be very sturdy and the chimney also has to work. They also might check to make sure the fireplace is safe for you to actually use. They check things like appliances, the plumbing system, electrical systems, the garage, and any heating or cooling systems. Their job is to make sure that everything that is working in your home is and is working correctly.

For a little extra most inspectors will inspect other parts of the house and check for things like termites. They can also check environmental things like water, asbestos, septic systems, and lead testing. Make sure you ask what they check for and how you can fix your home if they find something wrong.

By making sure that everything on the home inspector's lists is fixed and working in your home, you can make sure that you will pass your home and building inspections. They are a huge part of the safety of you home and even if you aren't selling, it's a good idea to make sure your home would pass an inspection so you don't end up hurting yourself or having part of your home destroyed.
