There are a lot of different things that you have to take into consideration when you are thinking about building a home. The first tip is to decide what type of house you want to build. You will probably have to look at a variety of house plans and even walk through some houses to decide exactly what you want. If you still can't find what you want to may have to pay some one to draw up your house plans. You will want to make sure that this is something that you figure out so that you can add in the cost.

The second tip is to decide how much land is going to cost you. Depending on the area you decide to build in and the size of lot you need for your home will determine how much you are going to have to spend. This is an important thing to figure out because land can add as much as $100,000.00 to your building cost if not more. You will want to make sure that you know what the easements requirements are in the different neighborhoods so that you know if the house you want to build will fit on the lot.

The third tip is building materials. There are a lot of different building companies out there that can help you out in this area. If you have your house plans you can take them to different lumber stores that will go over you plans and estimate how many 2x4's or 2x6's you are going to need along with floor joists along with all of the other lumber. They can usually do your trusses as well. You will want to make sure that you take it to a couple of different lumber stores so that you can see the price differences and see exactly what you need. You will want to make sure that you don't just pay attention to the bottom line but also the different allowances that each one puts in for different materials such as banisters and closet organizers. The reason for this is because these allowances can usually be cut down or even added onto depending on what your preferences are.

The fourth tip is for plumbing and electrical. You will want to make sure that you pay attention to these things. You might look at a price and think it isn't that expensive but in reality it is a low bid and it is the very basic. Then once you add in what you want it ends up being 3 times as much as your original bid. Because of this you will want to make sure that you are specific on what you want so they can put it in the bid from the beginning so you know what you are getting for the price.

These are just some of the tips on how to plan for your home building costs. There are a lot of other tips that can help you plan for your home building costs. It all depends on how much work you want to go to as to how precise you can get your costs. You will want to make sure that when you are figuring out your costs that you add 10% to everything. This will help you to account for waste that you will have on different materials. If you do your research and shop around you can get a better idea on how to plan for your home building costs.
