How to take care of waste on the construction site

When building a home you will most likely have extra materials that are not used or what is called waste. Waste is defined as any substance or object that you throw away, intend to throw away, or are required to throw away. All those things are considered waste and there are a number of requirements in taking care of these wastes. Recyclable material is also considered waste and needs to be taken care of in the proper way.
There are two different ways to classify waste. There is commercial or industrial waste. This type of waste comes from construction, demolition, and excavation. It is considered controlled waste and is subject to waste regulations. This type of waste does not include household or agricultural. You can usually take care of this type of waste with trash dumpsters or a clean up company that will clean it and haul it away. Many construction companies have their own clean up company they like to use on their construction sites.
Commercial or industrial waste is considered controlled waste. This type of waste needs to be handled according to the controlled waste regulations. These regulations have come from the Environmental Protection agency. If you do not follow these regulations that are set by the Environmental Protection agency then you can be fined or liens put on the new construction.
The regulations that are set by the Environmental Protection Agency state the laws of taking care of the waste and how to do it. For example, you are not allowed to just dump your trash anywhere you must put them in approved bins and then they need to be picked up by an approved waste management company. For regular home waste or trash this is as easy as putting out the trash on your given day. For the construction site you will most likely have a dumpster to put the waste into. When your dumpster is full then you will most likely call either the trash company in your area or a company that specializes in taking care of it for you.
The other type of waste is considered special waste. The majority of this type of waste is hazardous waste. There are up to 250 different items or substances that can be classified as special waste. You can find many of these on the construction job site. Some of these special wastes include anything that is explosive, flammable, toxic or dangerous to the environment. One type of special waste that has been getting noticed is asbestos. There are companies that their main job is to take care of these special wastes.
The regulations for special waste are also regulated by the Environmental protection agency. There are more parts to these regulations because of the impact that hazardous wastes can have on our environment. It is best to hire someone to take care of your hazardous wastes.
If you do have hazardous waste at your construction site you will need to take care of it the proper way. First you need to fill out a hazardous waste manifest. This is so that any hazardous waste can be tracked from its destination to proper disposal. Some hazardous wastes, like asbestos, need to be taken care of by a company or someone who is specialized in removing the hazardous waste. This helps insure that no problems arise from improper disposal.
It is always smart to call your waste management services to find out what the rules are in your area for waste removal. If you can recycle any of the waste it is best to do so. This will cut your bill for waste removal companies and will also help the environment. However, hazardous wastes should not be recycled. If you have recycled to the point where you can't recycle anymore then you will need to dispose of the waste the same way you would regularly.
