Installing security systems to protect your home building project

If you are thinking about building a new home or doing some remodeling you will want to keep in mind that a lot of theft happens during this process. People assume that there is no security and no one is around most of the time during the night hours so it is easier to take things. Because of this you will want to make sure that you do everything possible to make sure that you protect your home building project. One thing that you can do that will be the most beneficial to protect your home building project is installing a security system. Here are some pointers to installing security systems that will help you.

The first pointer is to install a security system that will do the job you need but can be upgraded once you get further along in your home building project. If you put a nice system in from the beginning you might end up getting lots of dust and if you are sheet rocking and mud and taping then you may also get lots of goop that might get in your security system and cause it not to work. You might want to think about getting just the basic needs like glass breaks or something that you can put in the windows and doors if they are opened or broken and then put in the more in depth part of your security systems later.

The second pointer is to make sure that when you do set up your security system that you make sure to pull all of your wires and make sure that you have all of your wires pulled before drywall so you know that they have all been pulled and that they were pulled correctly. Even though you won't hook all of the wires up in the framing stage you will want them pulled so that when you get further along after paint and carpet are in you can hook up the electronic part of the security system and get everything working.

The third pointer is to make sure that you use the right kind of contacts depending on what type of thing you are trying to secure. Contacts are the things that will cause the alarm to go off when they are set. For example if you are putting contacts in doors you will want to make sure that if you are putting contacts on any part of the jam besides the hinged side of the door that you use magnetic contacts. If you are putting contacts on the hinged part of the door you will want to make sure that you used button contacts. The reason you will want to use magnets on every part of the door jam but the hinged side is because if anyone opens the door it will cause the alarm to go off if the magnets are not touching. If you put the button contacts on the door jam part beside the hinged part you risk not having your alarms go off when you need them to and they will go off when you don't want them to. If you use the button contact on the hinged part this will cause the alarm to go off when the door is opened and it lets the button out.

The fourth pointer is if you are putting contacts in your windows. You will want to make sure that you use surface mount bar contacts if you are using them on vinyl windows. The reason for this is because vinyl windows are flexible and when they get hot or cold they contract and retract which might cause other contacts to go off where as if you use surface mount bar contacts you will decrease your chances of them going of as easily.

These are just some of the pointers that you can use. There are a lot of other things that you can do to make it easier when installing security systems to protect your home project. It is just up to you on how elaborate of a security system you want and how much time you want to take installing one.
