You have to have more than materials to build a house. Before you start building your home you will need a few other things. Pretty much everyone knows you have to have building permits, etc. What everyone doesn't always realize or consider is the importance of having insurance. Sure you get insurance for you house after it is built, but what about while it is being built? You may not think about it, but ignorance is not excuse. There are several insurance and legal issues that are associated with the home building process, and it is best to cover your bases by getting adequate insurance.
