Replace those nasty old light fixtures with new ones and new brighter light bulbs. Get rid of the old handles on the cupboards and go get new updated ones that look like they belong in this century. Change out the curtain and the rods in the bathroom. Get matching curtains, towels, trash can, soap dish and any other accents to brighten the room. Usually just doing these things will look like you have just remodeled your whole bathroom. You can replace countertops and flooring if needed, but that gets pricy quick. Cupboard doors can be replaced for a fraction of the cost and you can throw down a new rug on the floor to cover any old stained flooring. Always, always remember not to forget the beauty of paint. Paint those walls and see how much brighter your bathroom looks.

Living rooms
Living rooms may be trickier when remodeling. They may require more work than other rooms. New furniture is always the first step to a new looking room. If new furniture is not in the budget than consider re-upholstering your furniture yourself. There are books that can show you step by step how to do it. Then, rearrange the furniture and throw some decorative pillows on it. Small things can make a huge difference!

Most old living rooms have worn outdated carpet that needs replaced. If this is true go to a carpet wholesale warehouse where the pricing can be cheaper for carpet. If this is still too expensive go get an area rug that you can throw down over the high traffic areas. Replace old chipped and damaged floorboards with new brighter painted ones. Paint those walls with new brighter colors. Fill in any holes before painting, this will ensure a nice smooth coat of paint. When your new walls are finished, hang new art work on the wall. Then, bring in plants to give the room some new life.

Many remodeling projects can be done at a fraction of the price that a contractor would charge you. Most of the time all you need to do is replace a few small things, add a fresh coat of paint and rearrange the room.
