Remodel your foyer/home entry area

Your home entry area or foyer says a lot about your home. Many people look at their foyers and don't give it much thought. You can remodel your foyer with a few simple steps and it will leave a stunning impression upon your guests when they walk into your home.
Take a look at the door, if the paint is peeling off or it is starting to look old, consider a new coat of paint or a new door. A nice sanding job to a painted door and a fresh coat of paint will sprucen up the look of your foyer. When you decide upon the paint color for the door, you should consider how it will look with the color of your home. A color that attracts attention will help when you need to sell the home, select a color that is opposite of your home on the color wheel.
If your foyer is large enough to add windows off to the side of the door, they can add to the new look of your door. You can select from a wide variety of glass to add to your foyer, like French pane styles, stained glass, etched glass, and others. A single drape over the glass will be an easy way to bring in light and add to the beauty in the foyer.
Since the foyer is used for people to come in and out of your house, the flooring is used to a lot of wear and tear. If you currently have carpet in entry way or scratched up tile, tear it out and replace it. Tile is the best thing to have in an entry way because it can be replaced easily and doesn't show the wear and tear like carpet and laminate flooring.
Installing an entry closet can also add to your foyer. Your closet will need to match the doorways of the rest of the home, so be sure to select a decorative material that will brighten up the hallway. Line the closet with cedar planks to remove the smell of musty shoes and rained on coats.
A nice finish to your entry way is to add a mirror and an entry table. They can be found at practically any store and don't cost too much money, depending upon the style you are going for. A fake plant or a real one will also add to your presence in the foyer.
A foyer shouldn't look too overcrowded, so keep it simple and avoid the clutter. A few decorative pictures or family photos will be plenty. If you want to widen your entry way, take a good look at the rooms next to it. You can widen your entry way by reducing the size of the rooms next to it. You need to make sure you aren't trying to move a bearing wall when you begin your remodel. When you are installing the new wall, be sure you are supporting the ceiling and install top and bottom plates to add to the strength of the wall.
Vaulted ceilings are a modern design to many homes, if you want to raise the ceiling in your foyer, you will need to go into your attic and secure the vertical beams where the ceiling will rise up between. Decide where the ceiling will be and nail in the crossbeams and nail up the drywall. Then you will simply tape the drywall and mud it, once it has dried you can paint it. A nice higher ceiling will add to the new look of your foyer and will give your home a grandiose effect when people walk into it.
