Typical room sizes and why you should stay pretty close to that size
There are a lot of different things that you will want to take into consideration when you are building a home. One thing that you will want to make sure that you take into consideration is the typical room sizes. If you are wondering what the typical room sizes are and why you should stay pretty close to that size here are some reasons.
The first reason is because most people expect rooms to be about an average size. This is so that you have more space for other things. If you are building an average square foot home you are not going to want to make your bedrooms really big and have a small kitchen and family room because of it. You want to make sure that everything is well portioned so that your other rooms are not smaller than average.
The second reason is because people don't want to pay more for bigger rooms if it is not necessary. For example if you have a home that is average sized but you have one room that is a lot bigger than the rest it is not only going to look out of place but it is also going to be something that a lot of people will notice and might not like. They might think that it is a waste of space and because of that it will make them not want to buy the house.
The third reason is because you want to make sure that your house compares to others around it. Not that you want your house to be a cookie cutter house and be identical to the house next door. But when people are buying a house they look at every little thing. It is ok to have a nice sized family room as long as you have a decent sized kitchen also. But if you have a really big family room and a little kitchen that is something that a lot of people are going to complain about and ask the question why didn't you cut down the size of the family room to give more room to the kitchen.
The fourth reason is because you will want to make sure that you make your bedrooms big enough that you can fit the things needed in there like a bed and a dresser and maybe even a night stand. You don't want to make a bedroom too small where you can barely fit a bed and there is no room for anything else.
The fifth reason is so that you know how to compare your bedrooms and other rooms with what is going in there. For example if you make your family room to small you will end up not being able to fit a couch and love seat in the same room and might only be able to have a chair and a couch. This might be a problem if you have a large family. But if you stick to the typical size you will end up being able to fit both a couch and a love seat.
These are just some of the reasons you will want to make sure that you pay attention to the typical room sizes and who you should stay pretty close to that size. There are a lot of other reasons to make sure that you stay close to the typical size it is just up to you which reasons are more important to you than others.
