The first pros is that different home building supply stores will have promotions where you don't have to pay interest if you charge supplies on your consumer credit card for a certain period of time. For example some have six months no interest or even a year. This is a great way to get your home improvement started without having to have money up front. The bad thing is you want to make sure that you pay it off before the 6 months or 1 year is up. The reason for this is a most consumer credit cards have a very high interest rate after the introductory rate. Also if you do not pay off your balance in full you will get charged all of the back interested. It is very important that you ask what the interest rate is on a consumer credit card before you sign up for one so that you are not surprised when you get your bill.

It all depends on the company and the month. You will want to make sure that if you are buying something that you check to see what type of promotions you can find so that you can save some money. You will want to make sure that if you do charge it on your consumer credit card that you pay it off as soon as possible so you don't end up paying more for purchase hen necessary due to interest accrued.

For example if they are charging normal customers $1.49 per foot for a piece of lumber they might charge some one with their credit card $0.65per foot instead. This is something that you will want to ask about before you sign up for accredit card so you know what is included with getting a consumer credit card.

These are just a few of the pros on using consumer credit cards at home building supply stores.
