What to do if your plumbing fails inspection
Your plumbing system is one of the most important systems that are located in a house. When you are remodeling or building your home, you will want to make sure that your plumbing system works correctly. There are a lot of reasons why you will want a correctly working plumbing system. First of all, if your plumbing is working correctly, then you can make sure that your appliances which use the plumbing (such as the bathtub, the sinks, and the toilet) are all working correctly. In addition, you want to make sure that all of the dirty water and sewage is disposed of correctly, which is also an important responsibility of the plumbing system. If you have a sewage leak or dirty water that is filtrating into your house foundation or yard, you and your family could get very sick.
Because plumbing systems are so important, people are required to have a plumbing inspection when they are building or remodeling their home. Any time that there is a new plumbing system built or if there are changes to the existing plumbing system, then you should have a plumbing inspection. Hopefully you will pass your plumbing inspection right away. However, if your plumbing does not pass inspection, there are a couple of things that you should do. Here are some suggestions:
1. Correct any problems pointed out by the inspector: One of the main reasons why people fail plumbing inspections is that they have some problem with their system or plumbing line. A plumbing inspector will be able to point out those specific problems, indicating why they are not able to pass inspection. After your inspection points out these problems, you should work to correct them. If you do not have the skill to fix the problem yourself, then you should hire a plumber or a plumbing contractor to come and help you.
2. Follow any other recommendations: After you fix any of the major problems that are indicated by a plumbing inspector, then you should follow any other types of recommendations that the inspector has. These recommendations might refer to the cleanliness of the plumbing system or the types of materials used for the system. Make sure that you follow these recommendations as well, so that your plumbing system will be very safe when you have the inspector come the second time around!
3. Make sure that the work is ready to be inspected: Another one of the main reasons why people fail plumbing inspections is because the work was not completely ready for inspection. Make sure that your plumbing project is finished and ready for inspection when the inspection appointment is made! If you are eady for the inspection, then you will not be as likely to have the inspector return - and you don't want the inspector to return, because then you probably will have to pay an extra fee! If you are not sure if everything is completed (especially if you are doing some of the work yourself), then you should either consult with a plumbing contractor, or you should review a checklist for plumbing inspection standards. These standards and requirements will likely be available through your city or local authority.
Plumbing inspections are very important and you will want to make sure that your plumbing passes inspection as soon as possible! If you don't pass your plumbing inspection the first time around, then you should follow these steps to help you improve your plumbing system. By following these different steps, you will be able to better make sure that you will pass inspection next time! Good luck in your next plumbing inspection!
