You have so many different options when it comes to build a new home. You have to first figure out how much you want to spend on a house and what type of house you want t build. Once you get an idea of what you want you then have to decide where you want to buy your building plans from. Here are tips on where to buy your building plans to help you get an idea of all the different places you can look.
The first tip is to decide if you are going to use a contractor or not. If you are going to use a contractor you will want to make sure that you don't have to pick a plan from their selection. If you have to pick a plan from a contractor's selection you will want to make sure that you look at their options of plans and the cost to make changes to their plans. This is one way that you can buy a plan. If you cannot find a plan that you want to pay money for you will want to shop around for another contractor that either has a building plan that you like or will let you use your own building plan.
The second tip is to go online. You will want to make sure that if you are buying a plan online that you take into consideration that in most cases even though you have the plan you will have to have an engineer in your area look over the plans and make sure that the building plans have the correct weight loads as far as your trusses and roof go. An engineer will also make sure that you put so many floor joists in a certain distance apart so that the weight is evenly distributed between everything so that their won't be too much weight on some parts of the house and not enough on other parts.
The third tip is to shop around in your area. There are different places all around that either will draw up a custom building plan for you if you have something particular in mind that you want drawn up or they have a lot of different stock building plans that you will be able to choose from. A lot of people that have stock plans charge less to buy a stock plan but will charge a certain amount for each change that are made. You will want to make sure that if you have a lot of changes that it will still be cheaper to buy a stock plan rather then to have a custom plan drawn up.
The fourth tip is to go to parade of homes. The parade of homes is a great place to buy building plans because you can actually walk through each house and actually see how big different bedrooms are and how big closets and bathrooms are without having to just see the rooms and closets and paper and try to just imagine how big they are only to be disappointed once it is build and find out it was nothing what you were expecting. There is usually information in the parade of homes that will tell you information on who drew up the building plans or who they bought the building plans from. Then all you have to do is contact them.
The fifth tip is go to different model homes. Different building companies have different building plans to choose from. If you haven't decided on what building company you want to go with you can go to their model homes and look at their different house plans and they will usually have some that are in the progress of being built or that are just getting done being built that they can take you through and show you. This is a great way to get an idea of where to buy your building plans.
