A very important part of your home is the windows. Choosing the windows you want to have in your home will give you a great deal of enjoyment and satisfaction after the process is done. Windows do many things that are important to the way people live. They give light and warmth during the day and provide protection and security at night. When you are building a home or choosing windows to put in your home there are some important things to take into consideration. Here are some features that you should look for in the windows you decide to put in your home.

Light

One of the most important functions of windows is to let light into your home. Light is so important to the way that your home feels and looks. A big room with small windows will feel dark and secluded and almost any room with larger windows will feel more open and comfortable. You can make many of you redecorating decisions based on the positioning and size of your windows to take full advantage of the light that they provide. One thing this is very important to consider thought is what kind of light you are letting in and where. Older windows do not block UV (ultraviolet) light which we now know to be harmful to many things inside your home from furniture, to paintings, to flooring and other decorations. Many new windows now come with what is called low-e glass. This means that there is very little if any ultraviolet light that passes through them. This will keep the inside of your home protected and keeping their original colors and luster for much longer.

The first question when it comes to window treatments is when do you use hard and when do you use soft? Is there a hard fast rule, or is one better than another under certain circumstances? The answer to that question is that often yes, one is by far better than the other. For example, a home with a great view is a big selling point for homeowners, but often the thing that was so appealing about it becomes problematic when trying to treat it. You want to maintain the view, and also have privacy, etc. So, the little rule is simple, it is basically this, use hard window treatments under the following two conditions: first is if you have a great view, and the second is if you want the maximum amount of natural light possible. French Door Window Treatment

French doors are beautiful, and can be a lovely addition to any home. However, they pose a problem. The problem comes with French door window treatments. You don't want to cover these beautiful doors up, if you did you would not have bought them in the first place. However, you also want to shield your furniture from damaging rays of the sun while still letting light in. It's very inexpensive and quick to do, so you aren't looking at a big time or money investment for this French door window treatment and another plus is if you don't like the look or make a mistake, or you are just ready for a change, the design easily scrapes off with a razor blade. You could change the design with each holiday, or whenever your mood dictates it, and the cost will be minimal.
